About the event

This event is postponed due to Covid-19. Stay tuned for the new date.

This show is brought to you by Flamenco Borealis and the Broadway Theatre.

Tandem is defined as a special partnership between flamenco guitar and dance; two artists whose unique bond extends across art and personal life. Both artists share a vision of growth and innovation, while maintaining a deep connection to the tradition.

The program will feature works by the masters of flamenco guitar, such as Sabicas, Nino Ricardo, Manolo Sanlucar, as well as original compositions by Santiago Lara. Mercedes Ruiz: One of the most esteemed dancers in Spain today and winner of such respected flamenco dance awards as the Critics Award at the Jerez Festival and the Exhibition Award at the Seville Biennial, has been performing professionally since the age of seven, touring across Europe, Asia, and to the Eastern United States. In 2003, she started her own company, Compania Mercedes Ruiz, and has created nine productions together with her husband, Santiago Lara.

Santiago Lara: Flamenco guitar virtuoso, composer, and producer Santiago Lara is, without a doubt, one of the most important names in the new generation of flamenco guitarists. He has received some of the most prestigious flamenco guitar awards including that of the Seville Biennial and the National Flamenco Art of Córdoba Award. With four albums on the market as a soloist, he highlights his "Flamenco Tribute to Pat Metheny" and his latest work "La Guitarra en el tiempo", a tribute to all the masters of the flamenco guitar. We must highlight his concerts in Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Flamenco Festival London (Sadler´s Wells), Flamenco Festival Poznan, Internacional Music House in Moscow, Tampereen Flamenco Festival, Hersbruck Guitar Festival, Córdoba Guitar Festival, Bienal de Flamenco de Querétaro (Mexico) etc…
